Description : Kelly Gilroy manages policy and special projects for the Office of the Assistant Director of the Illinois Department of Corrections. Largely focused on the state's model initiatives designed to reduce the recidivism rate, her work involves the coordination and development of special projects from program plans to event planning to contract reviews to legislative strategy. In addition, Kelly performs public speaking on behalf of the office on the agency's reform initiatives. Prior to IDOC, Kelly worked on a variety of issues including death penalty reform, domestic violence, sexual assault, economic equality, and mental health.

Kelly grew up in Kentucky and is a graduate of the University of Kentucky. She moved to Chicago seven years ago to attend graduate school at the University of Chicago where she earned master’s degrees from both the Harris School of Public Policy and the School of Social Service Administration.
