Sheila Chalmers-Currin works in Chicago at Peoples Energy Corporation
in the Gas Supply and Gas Trading Department. Her position provides her
the opportunity to utilize her management skills as an effective
communicator and motivator, for over 20 years. Sheila is currently the
President of the Illinois Fire and Police Commissioners Association, and
holds the position of appointed Fire and Police Commissioner
within the South Suburban Village of Matteson Illinois. In
addition she is Director on the Board for the League of Women Voters
in Chicago.
Dedicated to Improving the lives of others, Sheila has taken a Pro-active
role by volunteering in a number of Community Organizations, including:
La Rabida Hospital; Juvenile Diabetes Association; American Cancer Society;
Chicago Greater Food Depository; Illinois Department of Public Health, Genetic
and Metabolic Diseases as a Committee Member; Commissioners Training Institute;
ETA Theater; Spirit of Chicago Girls’ Softball Team. Sheila also volunteers her
Time for candidates in the Illinois State Senate and the State Representative elections.
Sheila earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Speech Communications
from Governors State University; and received her Master of Science
Degree in Integrated Marketing Communication from Roosevelt
University. She believes being a part of the IWIL Program has provided her
a greater opportunity to make a positive difference in her community. |
