Description : Melva Brownlee currently serves as Chief of Staff to the Honorable Robert B. Steele,
Cook County Commissioner (2nd) Cook County District in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to this position, Melva served as Executive Assistant to the Honorable Bobbie L. Steele, first female President of the Cook County Board of Commissioner and also held a position as Assistant to the Honorable Dorothy Brown, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County.

Ms. Brownlee earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in pre-law from Jackson State University, Jackson, MS, and is pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree from Roosevelt University, in Chicago, IL.

Ms. Brownlee has a passion and desire to work with and for the political process. She has labored in the political arena for over 15 years and has worked on several campaigns for county, city, and state, elected officials. She is a member of IVI-IPO and the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, and has volunteered for numerous community organizations including the Better Boys Foundation and Family Focus Lawndale.

She is the daughter of Thomas and Vernice Brownlee, and the sister of Yolanda and Thomas Brownlee Jr. Ms. Brownlee resides in Chicago, IL.
